It is worth standing at the spot where the pergola will go and looking at the house's rooflines, trim color, and existing hardscape before settling on a material, rather than choosing the material first and making the house work around it.
What should you actually ask a contractor about finishes and fasteners?
Whatever material you land on, the finish and the fasteners decide how it ages more than the base material does.
